Hey Mark,

I just counted and was horrified to discover that I'd only read 29 books from Horror: The 100 Best Books, although a couple of them like The Painted Bird, Who Made Stevie Crye? and The Land of Laughs I read solely because the essays about them.

I read 23 books from Horror: Another 100 Best Books which was a little more than I expected.

This just goes to show me that I have much more reading to do. Its not enough to read just the new stuff. I need a better grounding in the classics.

52 of the first hundred.

A slightly less impressive 29 of the second.

Reading lists like this just makes me want to make my own! Something very addictive about them...

Lovecraft's review of Chambers' King in Yellow is a classic. The Greatest Horror Writer Ever (well, title is contested...) says someone else's work is damn fine horror. Should make everyone sit up and pay attention!
