SUMMARY:
Hectors stays at home building his models while his wife Helen works out at the gym and has an affair with an employee named Danny. They are trapped in a marriage where the love has been replaced by bitterness and anger.
When Hector called Helen on her suspect behavior, she retaliated by lashing out at his models, breaking a few including the Cutty Sark.
Now Hector is biding his time . . . waiting . . . until he can get his revenge.
APPEAL:
“Insoluble” was an easy story to get into and all too soon done. This delightful short story of poetic justice and an unpleasant revenge at that. I found myself wincing at the visual it conjured in my mind.
“He really had loved her once, when he’d been younger. Stupider.”
David Niall Wilson gives us two characters, neither entirely likable or hateful. In such a short space we see how their flaws brought them together and then destroyed what they had.
